Job Description

An Iron Worker Flux Core/Metal Core is responsible for welding metal components with flux core and metal core welding processes in order to fabricate, erect and repair structural steel products.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding process specifications.
  • Determine appropriate welding process and consumables to be used based on project requirements.
  • Weld metal components using Flux Core and Metal Core welding processes.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments together.
  • Inspect welded joints and conduct tests to ensure that they meet product specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain welding equipment and troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on welding equipment to ensure its efficient operation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the workshop.
  • Collaborate with other Iron Workers and contractors to complete projects within schedule and budget.
  • May operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, and aerial work platforms to position steel components.

Qualification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Skill & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a welding apprenticeship or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Flux Core and Metal Core welding processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Familiarity with welding equipment and tools
  • Knowledge of welding safety procedures
  • Ability to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
