A Principal Construction Estimator is a senior-level professional who is responsible for overseeing the estimating process for construction projects. They are typically employed by construction companies, engineering firms, or general contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and preparing cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications, and other project documents to determine the scope of work, materials needed, and labor requirements.
  • Analyzing and evaluating subcontractor bids and proposals.
  • Conducting cost analysis to determine the most cost-effective options for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and other industry professionals.
  • Preparing and presenting estimates to clients and management.
  • Ensuring that all estimates comply with industry standards, regulations, and requirements.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and construction personnel.

Qualification

Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is required.

Skill & Experience
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are also essential.
  • extensive experience working in construction estimating is necessary, along with a thorough understanding of construction practices, codes, and regulations.
