Job Description
The Workshop Manager in Yacht Building is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise, team leadership, and operational oversight within a high-quality yacht building environment. As the Workshop Manager, you will lead and coordinate a skilled team focused on creating, repairing, and maintaining yachts to meet top industry standards. This role requires strong organizational skills and an eye for detail, ensuring all projects are executed with precision, quality, and efficiency. As a key liaison between management and the workshop, you will help maintain productivity, address client needs, and manage resource allocation within the workshop.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Oversee a team of workshop staff, including technicians, carpenters, welders, and other specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Project Coordination: Plan, organize, and monitor all phases of yacht construction, repair, and customization projects. Ensure that projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients regarding project updates, modifications, and timelines, and ensure that customer expectations are met.
- Resource Management: Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely acquisition of necessary materials and equipment for each project, optimizing inventory and resources.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations, minimizing risk and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections of work to ensure it meets the company’s quality standards and is aligned with client specifications.
- Problem-Solving: Address any issues or setbacks that arise during the construction or repair processes, providing effective solutions to maintain project timelines.
Qualification
- A completed vocational training or diploma in boat building, carpentry, or a related field in marine or yacht construction.
- A Master’s certification in the boat building trade or a similar qualification would be highly advantageous.
This role demands technical expertise and hands-on experience in yacht building, with formal education in a relevant field as a strong foundation for success.

- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience and knowledge in yacht building, particularly in areas of composite and wooden construction.
- Leadership Ability: Strong managerial skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of skilled professionals.
- Customer-Focused Mindset: Ability to understand and anticipate client needs, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and project management.
- Project Management: Proficiency in planning, organizing, and executing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Quality Orientation: A commitment to upholding high-quality standards, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with calculating offers, reading technical drawings, and understanding yacht specifications.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English, with German skills considered an asset.
- Driving License: A valid driving license, minimum Class BE, is required.
